Description

At the MRC the glass breaker which is comprised of a disc screen system breaks and removes small fraction and ker which is comprised of a disc screen system breaks and removes small fraction and glass from a mixed input of recyclable material from the downstream pre-sort conveyor. For specific details regarding the operation and maintenance of the glass breaker please refer to the MachineX Region Waterloo Glass Breaker Operations & Maintenance Manual attached. The glass breaker is tied into the motor control centre (MCC) located within the main sort room to provide full integration with the facilities processing equipment. The corresponding variable frequency drive (VFD) for the glass breaker is included with this advertisement and sale.

Condition when removed from Service: Working, fully operational.
Damage: Exterior - Scratches, dents, dings & rust are present
Maintenance Schedule (while in service): Monthly, and as required.

Special Considerations: The glass breaker described above is located on an elevated platform above the MRC floor (please refer to Material Recycling Centre Sort Line Figure for exact location). As the platform is elevated a railing system has been installed for worker safety (see photos attached). In addition, to the north of the railing system there is a concrete block wall used to contain and delineate the container tipping floor (see photos attached). The successful bidder will be required to take site conditions into considerations when developing their bid and removal plan. The equipment will be required to be removed from the western side of the MRC within the container tipping floor. Equipment used to perform removal will need to have adequate reach to access the equipment as the glass breaker will be required to be lifted over the railing system and concrete block wall. Coordination with Regional staff will be required during the removal activities.

Reason for being Auctioned - No longer required due to program change.
As of March 2, 2024 the Regional Municipality of Waterloo (Region) transferred the management of the residential blue box program to Circular Materials. The Material Recycling Facility (MRF) located at the Waterloo Landfill Site is now being utilized as a transfer station. As such, the Region is looking to complete the sale of the recycling processing equipment as it is no longer required for operation.

Non-Mandatory Bidders’ Site Visit: A non-mandatory site visit will be held on Thursday, April 16th , 2026 at 10:00 AM for approximately one (1) hour. All attendees should have suitable PPE including at minimum a safety vest and steel toe boots. Meet at the Waterloo Landfill Administration Building, located at 925 Erb Street West, Waterloo, ON. 1. Payment is due within 5 (five) business days of auction closure.

2. Any invoice $5,000 or above requires payment via wire transfer.

All required project documentation including, but not limited to, the Clearance Certificate Number from the WSIB, Certificate of Insurance, Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan, and Staging and Removals Plan are to be submitted to the Owner within 72 hours of asset payment.

The buyer is responsible for all aspects of pick-up / removal, including but not limited to packing, loading, transportation and exporting. Note: Shipping is NOT available.

Removal is by appointment only.

At the time of pick-up / removal, you will be required to present the seller with a copy of your Buyer’s Certificate and/or bill of sale, and potentially other documentation (e.g., copy of driver's license, Authorization of Release, etc). When making a removal appointment, please confirm with the seller what is needed to release the item(s).
